Laparoscopic Revisional Surgery
I have developed a progressively more complex caseload, which includes a large volume of revisional laparoscopic surgery. This includes redo anti-reflux and hiatal hernia surgery, revisional bariatric surgery for complications and failed weight loss after primary obesity surgery, redo hernia surgery and redo cardiomyotomy.
Revisional surgery is technically complex surgery and is often only undertaken by conventional open surgery, or is associated with a high rate of conversion from laparoscopic to open surgery. My specialist laparoscopic experience mean that I rarely convert to open surgery even during revisional surgery.
In the last 3 years for example, I have performed 85 complex revisional stomach and oesophageal operations with a conversion rate of less than 5%..
